Seven Sacred Pools in Sedona, AZ

For those of you who know me know that I'm a Midwest girl at heart.  Growing up in the country in Iowa with my graduating class size being 32, moving to Phoenix was a culture shock to me, to say the least.  I missed my quiet country life and felt like I needed an escape.  It took me a couple of years to explore the state and find some of the most peaceful places to escape to.

Phoenix has a lot to offer, and if you like to hike, I have several great hikes I can recommend in the area (Camelback Mountain being my favorite, of course).  But if you have more time to explore this state, I highly recommend Sedona (2 hours from Phoenix). More specifically, I recommend hiking to the Seven Sacred Pools on the Soldiers Trail Pass. 

Soldiers Trail Pass is a 5 mile loop and has some great views and great stops along the way.  It's a fairly easy hike and is kid and dog friendly.  This picture hardly does this hike justice! 

Warning For Hikers

Flash flooding is a nightmare for hikers. Be safe during monsoon season in the Phoenix area because a storm can happen anytime. Dry rivers and canyons can easily become hazardous.

If you haven't gotten a chance to meet the amazing marketing team for SERVPRO of Mesa East, let me introduce you!

Our long time Sales and Marketing Manager, Kelly Kordick, has been with us for almost 9 years.  She started when she was a Junior at Arizona State University.  Kelly started out marketing to Insurance Agents, but now she specializes in the Property Management Industry as well as handling some of our estimating.  

Our Sales and Marketing Representative, Ashley Gilbreath, has worked for us for over a year now.  She specializes in Insurance Agents and Commercial Marketing.  Ashley graduated from Arizona State University where she majored in Biology and was also on the ASU Dance Team.  

Our Summer Marketing Intern, Vicki Kordick, attends Iowa State University where she is majoring in Business Marketing & Management.  Vicki has worked for SERVPRO in Iowa as well but spends her summers with SERVPRO of Mesa East.  

Categories of Water Damage

Carpet Delamination- necessary to remove the carpet

There are three categories of water damage.


Category 1 - Water from a clean source (Supply Line)
Category 2 - Water that is somewhat contaminated (Washing Machine)
Category 3 - Water that is grossly contaminated (Sewer Backup)

Some insurance companies require drying in place for Cat 1 losses, meaning the restoration company isn't allowed to remove carpet and padding, etc., without approval.  There are some cases on Cat 1 losses where it's OK to remove the carpet, such as if the carpet is stained or delaminated.  SERVPRO of Mesa East will work with your adjuster directly and follow all of their guidelines while doing demo and any other necessary work.  We make it hassle-free for you as we are always in constant contact with your adjuster to get all approvals and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Hey, friends!

I have slacked, a lot, on this blog.  So here's a resolution for 2018 I will keep:  to blog more on here.  

We ended 2017 with our Christmas Party at Fajitas, which is a SERVPRO family favorite.  (Check out the attached picture of our franchise owners and I).  Now that 2017 is behind us, I am excited about 2018 and looking forward to another great year with SERVPRO.  I am approaching my 9th year (say what?!) with SERVPRO of Mesa East.   

My 2018 SERVPRO resolutions are:

- Stay organized

- Attend more networking functions

- Get the confidence to do Facebook Live, because I hear all of the cool kids are doing it. 

- Start a monthly newsletter with some contests.  If you have any contest ideas, please share!

Sparky is our newest team member and he started with us in September, when he was 8 weeks old.  We call him our official mold sniffing dog, but lets be honest, he spends his days at the office playing with his ball and taking naps.

He's attended some property management meetings with Kelly and has also done some route sales.  We think he's the perfet SMR! 

He keeps asking if he can join us at convention in Orlando this year, but unfortunately we have told him he will have to sit this one out.

NARPM Goes Camping!

It's almost time again for our Annual NARPM Camping Trip and we would love to have you there!


This event has always been a great time! Let’s get together out of a meeting or our offices for some fresh air & sunshine! NARPM will provide one meal (TBD) and s’mores fixings for both Friday & Saturday campfire! The group site has a private gated entrance, 12 picnic tables and 3 central grills. There is covered food prep areas and tables under 2 ramadas including trash service and vault toilets with no running water. 



How Much: Basically FREE! Each vehicle must have a "Tonto Pass" for each 24 hour period. The passes are $8 each and can be purchased online at www.fs.usda.gov/tonto OR at pretty much every store/gas station on the way out. If you need assistance with this, please contact Erin immediately.

When: Friday March 3rd – Sunday March 5th
Folks will generally begin to show up late morning thru earl evening and depart midday Sunday. You’re welcome to come and go as fits your schedule.

Where: Cave Creek Group Campground
The site is located 19 miles north of Carefree. From Carefree, take Cave Creek Rd/Forest Rd 24 to Seven Springs Day Use Area. Continue for less than ½ mile to the turn off to the group site. *The last 9 miles of FR 24 is an all-weather gravel road suitable for any 2 wheel drive cars*

Why: Because who doesn’t LOVE Arizona in March
Arizona is beautiful this time of year and isn’t it great to get outdoors! We can set up camping games, hike, go for a scenic drive and more

Sad News about SERVPRO Founder, Ted Isaacson

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of SERVPRO’s founder, Ted Isaacson. After a sudden and brief illness, Ted passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, surrounded by wife, Doris, and his family. May God Bless Ted and the entire SERVPRO® Family during this time.

Ted was deeply loved by his family and friends and words cannot express our gratitude for his lifelong love and leadership. We offer our condolences to the entire SERVPRO® Family, and want each of you to remember Ted’s passion and leadership was always focused on helping his legacy prosper in each and every one of you. You truly are a living legacy of Ted’s 84 blessed years.

Please say a prayer of strength for Doris in her time of loss, and a prayer of thanks for Ted’s lifelong commitment to helping everyone he touched succeed.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from your SERVPRO family!  

2016 was a great year for us and we couldn't be more excited for what 2017 has in store for us. 

We wrapped up 2016 with a big office move and we are finally settled in and organized at the new office and warehouse.  We also had one of our water technicians leave us at the end of the year so he could join the Phoenix Police Department.  While we are sad that he's gone and will miss him around here, we are very excited for him being able to live out his dreams of being a Police Officer.  

One of the things I'm most excited for in 2017 is our annual SERVPRO Convention in Seattle.  This will be my first time and I can't wait to have a week in cooler weather to take a break from the Phoenix heat.  Convention is a great week full of educational workshops and being able to mingle with the SERVPRO family from all over the United States.  It's truly an honor to be part of such a great franchise system. 

We wish you all the best for 2017 and look forward to being here for you for all of your fire and water restoration needs.  Whether it's big or small, we will make it like it never even happened.

Welcome to Our Blog

Hi SERVPRO friends, my name is Kelly Kordick and I am a Marketing Representative for SERVPRO of Mesa East. 

I grew up in the country 10 minutes South of Des Moines, Iowa.  My graduating class size was 32 people and K-12 was all in the same building.  I was active in the local 4-H program and I served as Vice President for two years and showed my horses, Bambi and Rodeo.  As much as I loved the country and my small town, I always knew I wanted to move away and go to college at Arizona State University.  Growing up in Iowa I developed a love for the sport of wrestling, which followed me into my college career where I was the wrestling manager at ASU.

I have been a part of the SERVPRO family for 6 years.  I started working for SERVPRO of Mesa East when I was a junior at ASU majoring in Business Marketing.  I thought it would be a great job to help build my resume so when I graduated I would have some experience under my belt.  Little did I know I would end up loving SERVPRO and so many different aspects of the job.  

I work in the marketing department as well as doing a lot of administrative tasks and have also had the opportunity to join our SERVPRO Storm Team where I travel to disasters.  I can't wait to tell you all about my experience with Hurricane Sandy and all of the other storms I helped with!
